I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son and daughter-in-law because they were concerned about their nearly 8-month-old son who had begun pulling himself up on furniture and their old table had OPEN SHELVES and VERY SHARP EDGES. I didn't wait until Christmas; I had the table shipped right away because I didn't want my first grandchild getting hurt!!!!! My daughter-in-law was so thankful that the table is STURDY, BEAUTIFUL/GREAT LOOKING, and most importantly, SAFE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN!!!

Quite heavy, but this is apparent because of quality and sturdiness. I put it together by myself but I would recommend 2 people for assembly. Very attractive and functional for what I bought it for - my big-screen TV.

This tv stand looks nice assembled. While I wouldn't put assembly in the 'con' category, I would warn...pay attention to the illustrations. Some made it hard to determine 'orientation' of a particular part. Overall, assembly was fairly easy...just be patient. I had a defective part on my unit. Called the 800 number on Monday, had a replacement part on Wednesday. That was impressive. If you want a sturdy, inexpensive tv stand, this one fits the bill.

Others indicated this was an easy piece to assemble. It took me over 4 hours and required several calls to the help line as the the diagrams are sometimes hard to follow. I did the assembly myself, with a helper it may have taken less time. This is a great piece for the money althought I don't care for the finish. It looks cheap but you get what you pay for. Be advised, there is a very strong chemical smell from the pressed wood panels. You will want to have the windows open when you assemble this!

At [$] [...], I was skeptical to say the least. But, after reading some of the reviews and being tired of looking everywhere for a tv stand w/ black finish sturdy enough for my 42" Flat Screen, I decided to go for it. Despite what some of the reviews said, it really isn't difficult to assemble if you've assembled any boxed furniture before. My 48 year old aunt and I put this together in less then an hour.This peice weighs 75 pounds and is solid. Very good, quality, sturdy peice of furniture that will certainly last me. Classy black finish. I've gotten complements from everyone that's walked into my house and seen it. My sister liked it so much, she's going to buy her next tv stand from this website. It's unheard of to get quality furniture at this price with free shipping on top of it. The only down side is that there isn't too much room for my DVD's and Video Games after the other electronics were hooked up, but this peice also has the matching book cases which will be my next purchase from this site. For now, the shelves are deep enough to do several rows of DVD's on each shelf. Highly Recommended, I would definitely make this purchase again.

Quite easy to assemble;assistant not required.Assembled product is quite heavy and quite immune to being toppled by my toddler.Looks great with our 56" DLP.
